When threatened by a predator, an emu will spontaneously shed several hundred feathers in an effort to distract its pursuer.

    When upset, cats will shed even more than usual.

    When I’m threatened I tear hair from my body and throw it at the predator. It never seems to work though :)

    I prefer the monkey tactic myself - throwing my own fecal matter at predators.
