We ended up moving to Long Beach and got a smoking deal in a beautiful crackhouse neighorhood: 2 beds, 1 bath, 4 blocks from the beach, and all for only 750.00. It was awesome!! You can rent houses in north orange county (brea, anaheim, buena park, fullerton, huntington beach, etc) for between $1100/mo and $1700/mo. That'll get you anything from a two bedroom house in tortilla flats or a four bedroom house in a quiet spot in anaheim. In south orange county (irvine, newport beach, laguna[hills|beach|woods], aliso viejo, mission viejo, san juan capistrano, dana point, san clemente) the prices vary from $1400/mo for a 2 bedroom in san clemente to $2000/mo for a 3 bedroom in mission viejo. Having a house rules. Up until a couple of months ago I never met the people who lived next door. That's not easy in an apartment. Such is life in LA.
